Washer Dryer or Separate Appliances?
Your washing machine is one of the most important appliances in your home so it makes sense to choose a machine that will meet all your washing requirements, offers the best value for money and is suitable for the allocated space in your kitchen or utility room. We supply an extensive range of space saving appliances, such as washer dryers, that offer you the best of both worlds.
Washer dryers are simply two appliances in one – a washing machine and a tumble dryer. They can be a practical solution for space saving in the home and are good value for money too, as you are buying one appliance rather than two. There are several factors to consider before you decide to buy either a washer dryer or two separate appliances. Our guide to washer dryers is designed to help you make the best choice.
Which Appliance is Best for You?
If you only have enough room for one appliance and you’d like the convenience of a tumble dryer, then a washer dryer is of course the best solution for you. If you have room for two then it’s worth finding out which appliance will best meet your needs. Take some time to compare different models from the comparable information given; do they for instance meet the energy efficiency requirement you’d like them to, or have the spin and wash performance that you need? A washing machine review may be handy for some further information if you feel you need it.
Separate Washing Machines and Dryers: The Pros and Cons
Separate washing machines generally come with a wider range of functions than washer dryers. That is not to say that you’ll only get a basic washing machine with a washer dryer as there are plenty of makes and models that offer additional features, such as variable spin speed, half load options, a quick wash facility and generally incorporate an energy efficient washing machine or an ‘A’ rated washing machine. However, if you have a large load size and you want a bigger drum capacity then you will have a better choice with a separate washing machine and in the long run this could be the best value. Washing machine manufacturers work hard to ensure that washer dryers have as many features as separate appliances, but this is not always possible.
As separate appliances, washing machines and tumble dryers have a different size drum capacity, with a tumble dryer having the larger drum to allow hot air to flow more freely through the clothes. This of course is not possible in washer dryers as both washing and drying are completed in the same drum. A washer dryer will therefore take longer to dry clothes than a stand alone tumble dryer.
We stock a large range of low price washing machines and washer dryers and are here to advise you on the best model to suit you.
Your washing machine is one of your home’s essential appliances and can be one of the most expensive. Therefore, making the right choice, the first time, is crucial. Our guide to washing machines is designed to help you find the perfect machine for your washing needs.
There are several things to consider before you choose a washer/ dryer. What is your budget? Are you looking for low price machine or top of the range models? What load size do you need to accommodate? Do you want a basic machine or one with more functions such as quick wash settings, a faster spin speed and larger drum capacity? When you’ve established which type of machine is the right one for you then reading a washer/ dryer review can help you narrow your choice down even further. Some things to consider when choosing a washer/ dryer include:
Top of the Range versus Low Price models
Choosing from a range of best value washing machines does not necessarily mean that you’ll be compromising on quality. By choosing the basic model from a well-known and trusted brand you can expect a consistent standard of quality, but generally with a smaller drum and less functions and cycle options. We stock a great range of low price washing machines that are competitively priced, higher spec machines, as well as basic models. Washing machine manufacturers’ top of the range washing machines makes and models vary significantly, and they will have a lot more functions such as a larger drum, faster spin speed and quick wash or extended wash options.
For an energy efficient washing machine you should try to opt for an ‘A’ rated machine. ‘A’ rating indicates the same energy efficiency right across the board of brands. You may also want to consider water consumption too. When buying a new model you can choose a washing machine with water consumption from 33 litres to 78 litres.
Choice of Programmes
Machines vary greatly and their differences can be measured by the amount of programmes they offer – this can range from about eight programmes to around 21. If you only need a basic model, look for a more economically priced machine with fewer functions; if you’d like a range of options including a quick wash, varied spin speed and extras such as anti-crease action, then a model with more programmes could suit you better.
