Short for Monaural or Stereophonic Sound. In simple terms Mono:- a single point of sound, or Stereo:- 2 speakers a distance apart mimicking live sound, giving an impression of the direction that the sound came from.

The ability to pause a live radio broadcast, providing an option to return a little later and listen from the paused position. Very useful if you receive a telephone call or need to answer the door.
